Advantages and Disadvantages of ICT in Education

ADVANTAGES

Access to most update sources and info rapidly and cheap

 

Many focus exercises can be found on the net 

Teachers can select different materials that fit better to the students needs according their age, level, and abilities

Many ELT resources can be found: discussion groups, interactive book reading, sound recording, games, talking books, chart lines, etc.

DISADVANTAGES

 Mandatory implementation of at least a computer could be an impediment rather than a tool.

Lesson planning using ICT is more time consuming than following an already planned class.

 

Not everything that is on the internet can be seen as useful and reliable given that everybody can upload whatever on it

Teachers with no training on technologies have no access to ELT information, so that they do not know how to teach classes with these resources
